Paging all art lovers Illuminate SF Festival of Lights returns with more outdoor installations and artworks from celebrated artists, so get ready to witness the city’s captivating glow. The accessible, expanded stage is complemented by a new Meyer Sound system and state-of-the art lighting. The Lift Every Voice series is a yearlong series of free live music events in the Bandshell in Golden Gate Park, hosted by Illuminate. ![]() All events will take place at the refurbished Golden Gate Bandshell, which Illuminate fully renovated in 2020. Here’s what you can expect to see at each of the 11 stops: 1. The series kicked-off on March 2 with the extraordinary trio of Fo Fera, Essence, and Meredith Axelrod. Live music returns to the Golden Gate Bandshell’s iconic stage with another season of free outdoor performances in Golden Gate Park starting Wednesday, March 2, 2022, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, San Francisco Parks Alliance and the arts nonprofit Illuminate recently announced. You can also learn about them at Illuminate SF, which puts on the annual Festival of Light. Many of these public installations are placed by Illuminate. You can also scoot around fairly well on public transportation. It will take a few hours to get through the whole thing on foot, but it’s not a bad bike or car ride if you want to hit all 11 stops in one night. The popular exhibit will again transform Golden Gate Parks Peacock meadow into a forest of otherworldly shapes and ever-changing light that allows visitors to explore. Notably, Golden Gate Park will host multiple installations this season in celebration of their 150th anniversary with Entwined in Peacock Meadow, Golden Gate. Jimi Hendrix lived in San Francisco in the 1960s and became one of the iconic musical talents of the Summer of Love. Photo: Jungho Kim / Special to The Chronicle 2020 San Francisco city officials want to place a new public art installation honoring Black lives around the empty pedestal where a statue of Star. The StoryWalk allows you to walk along and read the entire book over a ~.5 mile walk. The statue of Francis Scott Key hits the ground after a group of more than 100 protestors used ropes to pull it down in Golden Gate Park in 2020. Golden Gate Park, An A to Z Adventure was installed in late 2022 as a StoryWalk in a partnership between the San Francisco Public Library, Illuminate the Arts, and the SF Recreation & Parks Department and as part of the Golden Mile.
